Our commitment to VET
Just some of our activities include:

Learning Options is increasingly aware of the need for, and benefits of, socially-responsible behaviour.

An organisation's performance in relation to the society in which it operates and to its impact on the environment has become a critical part of measuring its overall performance and its ability to continue operating effectively.  There is a growing recognition of the need to exhibit socially-responsible behaviour and we are proud to acknowledge that this has always been an integral and inherent part of our operations.

Learning Options actively involves itself in the ACT Vocational Education community through volunteering on many different peak bodies and organisations including:

- The ACT Tertiary Taskforce
-The ACT Providers of Training Services (APTS)
-The ACT Flexible Learning Framework
-The ACT and Region Chamber of Commerce
-The ACT Accreditation and Registration Council (ARC)
-The ACT Adult and Community Education Council (ACE)

Our Business Partners

Learning Options achieves for our clients a high level of flexibility through the creation and management of collaborative partnerships.  Our partnerships are unique and to our knowledge are not offered by other training organisations to the extent where they have become an integral feature of the business model.

Some of our past and present partners include:

imgIndigenous Social Inclusion Company (ISIC)
In 2011, Learning Options has been collaborating with the Indigenous Social Inclusion Company (ISIC) on a number of potential projects.  The Indigenous Social Inclusion Company (ISIC) is 100% Aboriginal owned and operated and is a strategic initiative of the Wiradjuri Condobolin Corporation (WCC).  ISIC is predominately a social inclusion company designed to provide Indigenous Australians with the right tools for access, participation and engagement.  We focus on creating involvement, empowerment and development through employment, education and training.  The Director of ISIC, Clinton Scott Knight, is himself a graduate of Learning Options (Certificate IV in Training & Assessment) and was awarded the ACT Trainee of the Year 2008, and national runner up in the same year.  ISIC and Learning Options work together to provide Cultural Awareness programs, traineeship programs, and are currently preparing for a 2011 indigenous traineeship intake for the ACT Government.

imgConflict Resolution Service (CRS)
The Conflict Resolution Service partnership ran for three years until 2011.  The partnership enabled CRS to offer a Statement of Attainment in Certificate IV in Mediation CHC42308 that met the requirements of the national training framework along with the National Mediation Standards.  CRS delivered the statement of attainment under an auspicing agreement, and both organisations collaborated to provide recognition of prior learning on the balance of the units of competency required to achieve the full Certificate IV.  As a small not for profit organisation, CRS does not have the capability or capacity to operate as a Registered Training Organisation.

imgBull & Bear Special Assignments (BBSA)
Learning Options has been in partnership with Bull & Bear Special Assignments (BBSA) since early 2010 when we assisted them with RTO policy and procedures for their registration as an RTO.  The partnership has evolved significantly from this initial sharing of information, and the organisations now collaborate on many projects.  On some projects, BBSA act as the relationship/client manager and Learning Options provides training delivery (Certificate IV Training & Assessment for Medicare Australia, Instructional Design for Certificate IV and Diploma of Government (Investigation) for Centrelink are examples).  On other projects, Learning Options acts as the Lead RTO (Diploma of Government for Recruitment Management Company, Diploma of Training & Assessment for Medicare Australia).  This partnership has trained approximately 100 students in the last 12 months in the ACT, Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.

imgAustralian Forensic Services (AFS)
This partnership is a new partnership in 2011 and whilst still in early stages of negotiations, will enable Learning Options to provide our client, Justice & Community Safety, with specialist expertise in Government Investigations at AQF 4 and Diploma, and Workplace Inspection at AQF4 and Diploma.  The partnership will train over 50 Productivity Places Program participants during 2011.

imgGE Shaw & Associates
G.E. Shaw & Associates (ACT) Pty Ltd is a professional project and construction management company based in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).  They provide commercial and residential construction and construction-related services to clients in Canberra and the surrounding region.

GE Shaw had an identified need to provide in the short term, non accredited learning modules of 2-4 hours in duration, to existing staff and drawing on in house technical expertise to do so.  Learning Options partnered with GE Shaw to provide an accredited training pathway for the GE Shaw team through the deliver of Statements of Attainment in Diploma of Building & Construction (Management) and Diploma of Building & Construction (Construction).

imgInformation Technology Management Solutions (ITMS)
ITMS is recognised as a provider of quality training programs in the ACT and provides a range of training options to skill your organisation in our fully equipped facility in Weston.  In 2008 they initiated the innovative delivery model for Indigenous Certificate III in Business for the ACT Government.  The partnership with Learning Options enabled the certificate training and the User Choice program to be enabled.  Now up to the 4th intake, the program has had successes in the ACT Training Awards.

imgNuskills Learning & Development for Communities@Work
Learning Options in partnership with NuSkills Learning & Development provides the customised Community Sector Leadership Program (Diploma of Management) to Communities@Work.  The program in 2010 graduated 11 participants and the intake for 2011 has expanded to also include Advanced Diploma of Management qualifications.  Training is delivered on NuSkills training rooms, and they also provide specialist technical expertise for customisation and validation of content.

imgMaster Builders Group Training (MBA)
Learning Options was approached by the MBA in 2009 to provide specialist expertise in the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.  Whilst they were scoped to deliver this qualification, it was not an area of core business and there was a preference expressed for working in a partnership model.  Students from the Construction Sector were able to access specialist technical expertise from trainers drawn from the Learning Options capability, and support services and industry specific advice from MBA Group Training.

imgConstruction Industry Training Council (CITC)
We include the Construction Industry Training Council (CITC) as a business partner as they have been instrumental in our approach to the building and construction sector in the ACT.  As a result of this working relationship, Learning Options is providing customised training solutions to Today’s Homes & Lifestyle, has a partnership agreement with GE Shaw & Associates, and is in discussions with St Hilliers and Urban Contractors.  Qualifications include Certificate IV in Construction Supervision, Diploma of Building & Construction (Management) and Diploma of Building & Construction (Construction).  These are licensed occupations in the Territory leading to the issuance of Builders Class B & C licenses.

imgAssociation of Providers of Training Services  (APTS)
Learning Options partnered with the Association of Providers of Training Services (APTS) in 2011 to project manage the e-Portfolio’s Flexible Learning Innovation Grant.  Learning Options initiated the concept and the grant application that was awarded partial funding to embed e-Portfolio’s in 6 Registered Training Organisations in Canberra.  The RTO’s we involved and mentored included Optimum Training & Development, Capital Careers, Australian Forensic Services.

imgStaffcheck
In 2010, we partnered with Staffcheck, a Fyshwick specialist provider of personnel security services and risk management support to Commonwealth and State Departments and Agencies. Staffcheck provide specialist technical expertise for the PSP41704 Certificate IV in Government (Personnel Security).  To date 12 user pays students have been awarded qualifications through the partnership.
